The LSU Rowing Club was reestablished in 2004. A majority of our members had little to no experience with rowing before joining the team so we are open to anyone who has an interest in competing. We have two divisions on the team: Varsity and Novice. New members are considered Novices for their first year, advancing to the Varsity crew in their third semester. There may be opportunities for Novice members to bump up to Varsity before they are required to, however.

LSU competes in the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) and the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA). We race in 3-4 regattas a semester against crews from all over the south, such as Tulane, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Purdue, Vanderbilt, UT Chattanooga, Virginia, Florida, Texas, Texas A&M, and Clemson, just to name a few. We have raced at beautiful venues in Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, and the 1996 Olympic Rowing Venue in Gainesville, Georgia.

More so than any other sport, rowing is the ultimate team activity; there is a seamless blend of power and technique. A successful boat requires that each person be perfectly in sync with the others. The bonds that are built through countless hours of practice, workouts, post-practice breakfasts, and just constantly being around each other are strengthened by an equal love for rowing and LSU. The LSU Rowing club prides itself on the lifelong friendships that are made while on the team. As much as we love to compete against the best that collegiate rowing has to offer, we enjoy the camaraderie that is found on LSU Crew.
